Friday kicks off the 4th Annual Remembrance Run-Walk at Memorial Field in Sioux City.
It's a 24 hour event with countless laps for many around the quarter mile track.
The event drew in military veterans and their families.
"I'm actually a member of the 185th Air Refueling Wing and it's very important to show respect and support for those who have been lost in war as well as those who have been injured," said Katie Perez. "It's just a great opportunity to be a part of it."
Honored as the ambassador for this year's event is World War II veteran Bob Bray.
Sixty-nine years ago, he was aboard the ship that rescued sailors after their destroyer, the USS Drexler, was attacked by the Japanese.
"It's a touching thing for me," said World War II veteran, Bob Bray. "They treated me fine. I went in when I was 17-years-old and my folks signed me up back in '41 and I've never regretted any of it."
Those who participated in the walk/run gave a $25 donation toward the Freedom Park.
