SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
After snapping a three-game losing streak with a 14-inning win over Amarillo on Thursday, the Sioux City Explorers lost to the Sox 5-1 on Friday night.
The Sox scored first when leadoff batter Jason Martin hit the second pitch of the game over the left field wall for a 1-0 lead.
Sioux City (3-6) tied the game in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Andres Perez. The hit drove in Michael Lang, who hit a leadoff double. Perez, who was celebrating his 30th birthday, later committed two errors.
X's starting pitcher Wade Morrison, a Morningside College product, struck out eight in 3 2/3 innings but suffered the loss, giving up five runs. Amarillo (3-5) scored their final three runs in the fourth inning.
Game three of the four game series is Saturday night at 7:05 at Lewis and Clark Park.
