SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

More than 150 people spent their day paddling down the Mighty Mo for the 5th Annual South Dakota Kayak Challenge.

They started the 72 mile journey in Yankton, South Dakota at seven this morning and ended in Sioux City.

Some competed, while others just did it for fun, but many agree that it's a great course.

"It's got a lot of components to it. It's got long distance, it's got all kinds of water, and it's got the wind, and some of the best competitors in the country come out here," Gary Kingham, of Ogden, IA, said.

"I just like the long distance races. It's always a challenge out there trying to ride wake with somebody and staying up with somebody, and fighting the boat waves on top of it with the wind," Ted Cramer, of Rock Rapids, IA, said.

The fastest group came in at 8 hours and 18 minutes.
