Jolly Time says there's 100 reasons to stay in Sioux City
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Since the beginning, Jolly Time has been made in Sioux City at the plant just off Floyd Blvd. Every kernel is delivered there first.
"It's run through a cleaner in this white building behind me then it goes to one of these 26 corn cribs," American Pop Corn Company President Garry Smith said.
All of the kernels are then sorted and sent up to the microwave plant, where they are packaged. Jolly Time produces 10,000 to 12,000 cases of microwave popcorn per day at this plant.
"Our infrastructure is here. The land around Sioux City is perfect for growing Jolly Time popcorn. There's 100 reasons why we're still in Sioux City and it doesn't make sense for us to even look anywhere else," Smith said.
