Boys injured after man runs over tent during alcohol-fueled argument

Authorities are investigating the driver of a vehicle that plowed through a backyard in Oakdale, Nebraska and sent four children to the hospital. Antelope County Sheriff's officials said Stephen Barrington, 42, drove his SUV through his home's backyard Sunday night. The vehicle hit a tent with five boys, ages 9 to 13, near it. One child remains hospitalized, but is expected to be released in the next couple of days. Barrington was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

Police release suspect name, details in Storm Lake stabbing

One man went to the hospital and another went to jail after a stabbing in Storm Lake over the weekend. Jose Sevilla-Perez, 39, faces five charges after police said he stabbed a 29-year-old man in the shoulder, hand, and abdomen. It happened about 9:30 Sunday night in the 700 block of East 4th Street. Police said it started with an argument over loud music.

New safety requirements set for Keystone pipeline

Safety regulators have quietly placed two extra conditions on construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline after learning of potentially dangerous construction defects involving the southern leg of the project. The defects involved bad welds, dented pipe, and damaged pipeline coating. They've been fixed, but the Obama administration wants to make sure similar problems don't occur during construction of the pipeline's northern leg, which passes through South Dakota and Nebraska.

Iowa Great Lakes kicks off summer season with successful Memorial Day weekend

Opening weekend of the summer tourist season is in the books in the Iowa Great Lakes. Although the Memorial Day weekend included some rainy weather, businesses that rely on visitors' dollars said it was a good run. Hotel owners report it was business as usual and the owner of Maxwell's Beach Cafe, that's been in Arnolds Park for 29 years, said it was one of the best opening weekends they've ever had.
