Mother pleading "not guilty" after child falls into fire

STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) - Storm Lake mother is pleading not guilty after, police say, one of her children fell into a campfire.

It happened on Saturday night.

Police say 37-year-old Andrea Eades-Hogrefe left her children unattended near the backyard campfire.

That's when a four-year-old child fell into the fire, and had to be pulled out by an older sibling.

Eades-Hogrefe waived her preliminary hearing and her case is heading to district court.

The child suffered second degree burns on his buttocks, hand, and forearm area.

Police say 37-year-old Andrea Eades-Hogrefe left her children unattended near the backyard campfire, Saturday night. That's when a four-year-old child fell into the fire, and had to be pulled out by an older sibling.

The child is at Omaha Children's Hospital. There's no word on the child's condition.
