Mark LeRose has been hired as the new General Manager of the Sioux City Musketeers.
SIOUX CITY -
The Sioux City Musketeers have hired Mark LeRose as General Manager.
LeRose previously coached in the American Hockey League with the Houston Aeros in 2009-10 and at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003-04. LeRose also coached in the USHL with the Sioux Falls Stampede in 2004-05. He spent the 2013-14 season as an assistant coach with the Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips. His previous GM experience includes being the GM of the NAHL's Wichita Falls Wildcats during the 2010-11 season.
The Pittsburgh, PA native played four years at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, where he captained the team his Junior and Senior seasons.
"On behalf of the entire ownership group we are excited to have Mark as our new GM. He has worked with our Head Coach, Jay Varady in the past, and given their familiarity with the USHL and junior hockey throughout North America, the Sioux City Musketeers will unquestionably benefit as it moves forward." said Lloyd Ney, President of the Musketeers.
Head Coach Jay Varady commented on the hiring, "Mark and I approach the game with very similar thoughts about how a junior team should be run. The passion that he has for the game and the fact that he is well traveled and has coached and recruited at many levels ranging from Midget, High School, Junior, NCAA Division 1, to Pro shows that he understands what skills are required to move on to the next level."
Mark LeRose commented on his hiring, "I am extremely excited to be back in the USHL community. Having coached in the league previously, I am looking forward to my new role as GM and cannot wait to get started. I would like to thank both Lloyd Ney and Jay Varady for the opportunity, as well as the Everett Silvertips for their cooperation in the hiring process. The Sioux City Musketeers have a great tradition and a tremendous fan base. I look forward to working with this group of talented players."
The second of three camps leading up to the Musketeers annual Tryout Camp and Futures Camps is set to take place this weekend in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The teams annual Tryout and Futures camps are set to take place from June 8 through June 15, 2015 at the IBP Ice Center in Sioux City, IA.
