Human resources director sounds off about courthouse security hiring process

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Wednesday, the Woodbury County Human Resources Department will begin accepting applications for the three new courthouse security positions.

The county's human resources director Ed Gilliland said people can pick up an application from their office on the 7th floor of the courthouse or they can apply online.

Gilliland said there are several qualifications they will be looking for during this process.

"We are expecting to have a person with an exceptional law enforcement background. They have to be qualified to carry weapons. They have to have the ability to carry a weapon, and just the general security background that you would expect," Gilliland said.

Gilliland said he plans to hire the supervisor first, and then that person will assist with hiring the other security personnel.

He expects the hiring process to take 3 to 4 weeks.
