Residents start to assess damage after storms roll through the Norfolk, NE area

NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) - As a storm system moves through northeast Nebraska, residents are starting to take stock of the damage that was done.

Baseball-sized hail fell in Norfolk Tuesday afternoon, while high winds knocked out power to homes and businesses, including a stoplight at the corner of 13th and Pasewalk.

Officials with the Elkhorn Rural Public Power District in Battle Creek reported a number of outages due to the storm.

Emergency managers in Stanton are reporting baseball-sized hail, major damage to roofs, and plenty of tree debris.

Several outbuildings were reported as destroyed northeast of Tilden just inside the border to Pierce County.

The storm did serious damage in its early stages, overturning a semi near Stuart, and knocking out windows at the nursing home there.

Meanwhile, an irrigation pivot is reported to have blown across County Road 45B north of Ewing.
