What's Trending: Students give school janitor a huge surprise

ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. -- In What's Trending, students at one Kentucky high school spent their last day of school surprising a staff member with a special gift.

Excited students and staff entered the Anderson County High School gym Wednesday for a pep rally, which was part of the cover for the big surprise.

Janitor Ricky Spaulding was told there was a spill, so he went to clean it up, but instead of a mess, Spaulding was presented with a bag of money the students had collected, totaling $1,900.

The donations started earlier this year when staff members heard that Spaulding had not seen his son, who is stationed in Italy, in a year. He also had never met his grandson.

Spaulding and his wife Lisa hope to make their trip in the winter.
