I-29 collision injures three people

An accident near Whiting, Iowa, has sent several people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says it happened just before noon, Thursday, on I-29.

The crash involved a FedEx delivery truck and a car. The Iowa State Patrol says the car, which was driven by 29-year-old Abdirahman Awad, was headed north when it lost control and went across the median. It struck a southbound FedEx vehicle driven by 38-year-old Jimmy Ring.

Investigators say one passenger was airlifted to Mercy Medical in Sioux City. All others were taken to a nearby hospital in Onawa. No injuries were life threatening.
