As clean-up continues in Norfolk, local leaders are reminding folks, "buyer beware"

As homeowners in Norfolk, Nebraska begin to make repairs from this week's damaging storm, city officials are offering tips on how best to go about it. They've sent out a reminder that residents can repair siding, roofs, and windows on their homes without needing a building permit from the city. However, any out-of-town contractor that does work in Norfolk does need to be permitted by the city.

FIRE CAUSE: Glen Oaks Blvd. apartment fire cause is undetermined

The cause of the fire that heavily damaged Sioux City's Glen Oaks Apartments complex in March will go undetermined. Investigators said they've determined the fire started in a bedroom on a second floor apartment, but they are unable to figure out what sparked it. Smoke and flames damaged the 24 unit apartment building on Sioux City's north side. The building remains red-tagged.

Quilts auctioned to help homeless and abused animals

The Siouxland Humane Society held its 6th Annual Quilt Auction Thursday. From wall hangings to table runners, and baby quilts to lap quilts, over 70 quilts of all sizes were auctioned. Proceeds from the auction will help care for homeless and abused animals. All of the quilts were donated by local animal lovers.

Heineman headlines Madison County, NE GOP convention

Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman rallies the troops. He was the keynote speaker at the Madison County Republican convention Thursday in Norfolk. Heineman is serving his last term as governor. He can't run for re-election because of term limits. He took time for thank the GOP crowd for their support while he's been in office.
