As part of 70th anniversary of D-Day invasion, amphibious tank comes ashore on the Normandy beaches

A full day of events is under way in France, to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

Am amphibious tank came ashore on the Normandy beaches, just like in 1944, when the allies began a massive invasion to drive the Nazis out of France.

It changed the course of world-war-two in Europe.

More than 150,000 allied troops stormed the beaches by air and by sea.

Thousands were killed that day, though the exact death toll remains unclear.

Ceremonies are taking place across the Normandy region, many of them on the beaches where the allied forces landed.
