INFORMATION: Free Friday night swims in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Sioux City Parks and Recreation Department is offering up free Friday night swims at various pools in Sioux City.  Fran Palmersheim, Sioux City Parks and Recreation Advisory Board member, found sponsorships from local businesses to make the free swims possible.

The free swims will be available for two hours at a time and will rotate between five different Sioux City pools through August 8. This is the second year the board found sponsors for the free swims. “We averaged about 500 per swim night with Riverside being the most popular last year," said Sioux City Recreation Supervisor Eric Griffith. "We had 1,000 within the first 45 minutes, which we maxed out, so we're hoping that it grows even more this summer."

The first free swim will be at Leeds Pool on June 13 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
