Siouxlanders walk for heart health

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Siouxlanders walked to be heart healthy Saturday during the 29th Annual Siouxland Heart Walk.

With every step they took and dollar they raised, more people could be educated and aware of the dangers of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

"To prevent cardiovascular disease, you need to know your numbers, and what I mean by numbers is your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers," Siouxland American Heart and Stroke Association Director Linda Wadedo Jochims said.

To better your heart health, daily exercise is key.

That's why a fundraising walk is so fitting for the American Heart Association.

Fifteen-hundred people took part in Saturday's event, and their goal was to raise $65,000.
