Three Siouxlanders taken in 2014 MLB Draft

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - After 40 rounds, the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft came to a close Saturday.  Of the more than 1200 picks, three were from Siouxland.

Former Sioux City North grad Damek Tomscha was taken off the board in the 17th round (502nd overall) by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Spending the last two years battling in the Southeastern Conference with Auburn, as a senior he hit .313 and led the team with 5 home runs. He was also fourth in the SEC in on base percentage.

Fresh off helping Iowa Western win it's third junior college World Series title, in the 19th round (585th overall) the St. Louis Cardinals drafted former East standout Dom Thompson-Williams.

Thompson-Williams hit .407 in his freshman year with the Reivers.

A native of Sheldon, Iowa, former Iowa Hawkeye Taylor Zeutenhorst was picked by the Seattle Mariners in the 38th round (1131th overall).

Zeutenhorst hit .268 and led Iowa with 9 home runs.

He was also third on the team in slugging percentage.
