The Sioux City Explorers broke an 8-game losing streak with a 7-3 win in Gary on Monday.
The Sioux City Explorers ended an eight-game losing streak, beating Gary-Southshore 7-3 on Monday night at U.S. Steel Yard.
The X's (7-19) scored four runs in the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie. The ninth place batter in the order, Todd Jennings, delivered a two-out double to right to bring home Tommy Mendonca and Andres Perez for a 5-3 lead. Newly acquired outfielder Oscar Mesa followed with a two-out single to center to provide the final score.
The loss ended a seven-game winning streak for the first place Railcats, who fell to 15-9 on the season.
Greg Holt picked up his first victory of the season on the mound. The three game series continues on Tuesday. The X's return home on Friday to play Grand Prairie at Lewis and Clark Park.
