SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Sun Tan City in Sioux City partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland to raise money for the mentoring program. In just one month, the folks at Sun Tan City raised more than $6,000. The money will used locally to help enrich the lives of young Siouxlanders.

"Over six times the amount that we set out to raise, we raised. It's all going to a great cause. Any time you can benefit a kid we think that's a great place to start," said Pat Chedester, owner of Sun Tan City in Sioux City.

Officials with the mentoring program said there's still a need for volunteers. Around 40 Siouxland boys and girls are still waiting to be matched with a big brother or sister.

"Working really hard right now through the summer to get these kids matched up with someone who has the time to make a difference in their life," said Mike Skaggs, development director at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland is a mentoring program that's helping local children build their futures and realize their potential.
