Woodbury County's Social Services department is set to have a new home, likely as early as next Friday.
The Woodbury County Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to move the Social Services department from the basement of the county courthouse, to a new, larger location. The city bought the building, on Tri-View Avenue, several years ago. Right now, the only other tenant is the county's Veteran Affairs department.
Supervisor Larry Clausen says the move is a necessary one for the expansion going on in the department. "We're moving them out of the basement because there's no room left for expansion. We're picking up an extra six people, eight people that we can house at the new building," Larry Clausen said.
Internal construction will likely be done within a few days, so the department can move in around Friday, June 20.
