NECC celebrates completion of capital campaign for O'Neill campus
O'NEILL, NE (KTIV/US92) -
Northeast Community College officials are celebrating the completion of the college's capital campaign to build the O'Neill extended campus.
Community leaders say the extended campus will be a major benefit for students. It won't just benefit students in O'Neill, but other surrounding communities, as well. "First of all, they can stay with their kids if they need to," said Bill Price, O'Neill, NE Mayor. "From a financial needs, they can stay at home, live at home, and get their first two-years of education. Or you can even now, through a co-op with Bellevue University, they can actually get a bachelors degree here."
Tuesday's event also included a "ceremonial" ground breaking at the O'Neill Community Center because of weather conditions at the new site.
College officials expect construction to begin this summer. The facility should be open in the fall of 2015.
