SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Memorial Field in Sioux City will soon be taken over by walkers to celebrate life.

Teams participating in the Relay for Life fundraiser received their t-shirts on Tuesday for Friday's event.

This year's theme is "Carnival of Hope."  With that, there will be a clown lap, kid games, and face painting.

It all starts at 5:30 Friday night with a free dinner for cancer survivors.  Then, the walk kicks off at 6:00 with the survivor lap.

"It's really about the community coming together and truly having that moment as a community to celebrate and remember," says Ann Hoeppner with American Cancer Society.

As it gets darker throughout the night, the luminary bags lining the track will be lit.

The walk is free and open to the public.

KTIV's Chief Meteorologist Ron Demers will be the emcee for the event.
