PIERCE, NE (KTIV/US92) -
A 31-year-old man has entered pleas of not guilty to vehicular homicide charges related to a fatal car accident near Pierce County.
Carlos Espinoza-Sanchez entered the pleas through his attorney, Ted Lohrberg, in Pierce County Court Wednesday morning. Espinoza-Sanchez appeared in court on crutches, after suffering injuries in the April accident on Highway 81 in northern Pierce County.
Authorities say Espinoza-Sanchez was behind the wheel of a vehicle traveling northbound at speeds as high as 90 miles an hour when a tire blew out, causing the accident. Forty-one-year-old Pablo Chilel Escobar, 29-year old Mario Pineda, and 24-year-old Hugo Moreno were killed in crash, which injured five other people.
Espinoza-Sanchez will be back in court for a pre-trial hearing in Pierce on July 9.
