Gov. Daugaard talks about handling state finances

South Dakota's Governor Dennis Daugaard said there's still a number of issues he plans to tackle in the coming months, including transportation challenges, rail plans, and highway funding, to name a few.

Daugaard said when people talk about what he's already accomplished as Governor, what stands out most is how he's managed state finances.

"I came into office when we had a budget issue because of the recession, no one's fault. The recession drove our income down, and we had to cut our expenses to bring them down to where our revenue had fallen, and I did that. It wasn't pleasant, but it was necessary," Governor Daugaard said.

Daugaard will face State Representative Susan Wismer in the 2014 gubernatorial's election in November.
