The Mayor of Rock Valley has Declared a State of Emergency for the City of Rock Valley, Iowa

ROCK VALLEY, Iowa (SUBMITTED) - The Mayor of Rock Valley has Declared a State of Emergency for the City of Rock Valley.

All residents with water and/or sewer backup in basements or low lying areas that need assistance in relocating and/or moving belongings are instructed to call the City Office at: 712-476-5707.

Residents are instructed to use extreme caution around electrical services and shut off your power if you are experiencing water and/or sewer back up in your house.

Volunteers are needed. Please go to Trinity Church (2020 8th Street SE) for further instructions. For safety purposes, please wear proper work clothing. Please wear proper shoes, boots and gloves. Please do not wear flip flops or sandals. Transportation to emergency areas will be provided.

Free Daycare for Volunteers will be provided at Jungle Kids Daycare at Faith Reformed Church from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Please stay off the roads. If you are not volunteering, stay off city streets to allow emergency services to provide assistance to those who need it the most.

The mayor of Rock Valley said there are no routes open from Sioux County to Sioux Falls due to the flooding.

Rivers Bend Campground has been closed. Some Rock Valley streets and businesses have been flooded. Flood waters are over Hwy 18 west.

A news conference will be set up in Rock Valley on Tuesday afternoon. Details will follow shortly after 12:00 PM.
