Governor Dave Heineman has declared a state of emergency in the area.

He visited Pilger, Nebraska Tuesday morning and he will make all state resources available.

He said Pilger will rebuild, but it will take time.

In addition to the two fatalities, 16 people were critically injured.

15 of them were being treated at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

One was transferred to Omaha.

In addition, three people injured by a tornado were treated and released at Pender Community Hospital, but they are all from the Pender area.

Providence Medical Center in Wayne also treated three patients.
