ROCK VALLEY, Iowa (KTIV) - Officials say that the Rock River at Rock Valley, Iowa is at a historical water level.

The Rock River has caused major flooding on the city's north and west sides.

Residents of a trailer park, near the Rock River, were urged to evacuate their homes.

Those, who had to leave their homes, have gone to Trinity Christian Reform Church or Faith Reform Church.

Officials say over 700 volunteers have come to their aid to help with the situation.

Some of those volunteers have been filling sandbags since last night.

"The unique thing, the wonderful thing is this town coming together, fighting the cause and pulling together, Tom Van Maanen, Rock Valley City Administrator.

Officials say the city is working with Premier Bank, and Peoples Bank, to set up a Rock Valley Flood Relief Fund.

These funds will be given out by the city to assist those who have been affected by this flood.

"I grew up in Rock Valley. I feel part of the community and I know these people and to see what they are going through now and what they will have to go through after, it makes me sad," said Tom Van Maanen, Rock Valley City Administrator.

Rock Valley has received an overwhelming amount of support and officials say they don't need any more volunteers at this time.

Officials are urging people, who are not volunteering, to park you car away from those who are working.

Officials say that the onlookers are slowing down the process, and are causing safety concerns for the volunteers.
