Peter Barrows had three hits and scored two runs in Sioux City's 4-0 win over Kansas City on Tuesday.
The Sioux City Explorers continued their hot streak with a 4-0 win in Kansas City on Tuesday. Sioux City is now 12-20 overall after winning six of their last seven games.
X's starting pitcher Patrick Johnson gave up just one hit through seven innings of work. Johnson walked four and struck out five batters to improve to 3-1. Jimmer Kennedy, Kenny Long and Chris Bodishbaugh combined to give up just one more hit over the final two innings to complete the two-hit shutout.
Sioux City broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning. Peter Barrows tripled to center field and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Dillon Usiak. Barrows also doubled in the sixth inning and eventually scored after an error by the T-Bones and a ground out from catcher Todd Jennings.
The X's added another run in the seventh. Oscar Mesa hit a leadoff double and came home after a Nate Samson ground out to make it 3-0. Rene Tosoni added an insurance run with an RBI single in the ninth which plated Andres Perez.
The three-game series continues on Wednesday morning at 11:05. Sioux City returns home on Friday to begin a six-game homestand when Sioux Falls will visit Lewis and Clark Park.
