City leaders in Rock Valley, IA ask for more volunteers

Rock Valley's mayor said the water levels continue to rise dramatically throughout the city Tuesday evening.

A levee broke earlier in the night, but the mayor said workers have been repairing them as they go.

Rock Valley is declared in a state of emergency. City leaders urge all residents not affected by the flood to stay home at this time.

"Our residents are experiencing tremendous devastation, and we ask you to respect their need to reclaim their homes," Rock Valley Mayor Kevin Van Otterloo said.

The Mayor is urging people to step up in the flood recovery efforts.

He said they need as much help as they can get, as it seems the flooding isn't over.

Volunteers should report to the incident command center at the Fire Department in Rock Valley.

It will be open all evening.
