HAWARDEN, Iowa (KTIV) -

Hawarden, Iowa took a hit to some areas from the previous storm Monday night, which flooded a number of homes and businesses West of Highway 12.

Now, the Mayor said volunteers are stepping up by sandbagging to prepare for what may come.

"We put out the word for volunteers. They came for a lack of word, flooding in, for us, so to speak, so we're up to about 265 signed in volunteers," Hawarden Mayor Ric Porter said.

Porter said Hawarden received a large load of sandbags from the state of Iowa that they are strategically placing in areas that are in the most jeopardy.
