Governor Terry Branstad views the flooding in Rock Valley, IA from the air


Governor Terry Branstad will be in Rock Valley, IA at 1:00 PM.

They are meeting at the Rock Valley Fire Station to talk with the RV Fire Department followed by a tour of the City of Rock Valley.

There will be a news conference after the tour of the city.

Rock Valley's mayor says the water levels continue to rise dramatically throughout the city yesterday.

A levee broke Tuesday night, but the mayor says workers have been repairing them as they go.Rock Valley is declared in a state of emergency.

City leaders urged all residents NOT affected by the flood to stay home at the time of flooding.

"Our residents are experiencing tremendous devastation, and we ask you to respect their need to reclaim their homes," Rock Valley Mayor Kevin Van Otterloo said.

The Mayor is urging people to step up in the flood recovery efforts.

He says they need as much help as they can get.

Volunteers should report to the incident command center at the Fire Department in Rock Valley.
