The Sioux City Bandits visit Wichita in Champions Bowl II on Saturday.
The Sioux City Bandits will be trophy hunting on Saturday when they play in Champions Bowl II. The second-seeded Bandits take on top-seeded Wichita in the title game. It's their third meeting of the season.
The Bandits won titles in their old league in 2011 and 2012. Wichita won last year's CPIFL title and have won 20 straight games at home.
Sioux City beat the Wild in their first meeting in April, 48-45, but Wichita won the season finale in another close one, 59-54. In that second game, the Bandits trailed by 22 at the half, but nearly came back to win.
"We came off to such a slow start that we couldn't overcome it in the end," said Bandits head coach Erv Strohbeen. "We brought that ballgame to within three points at one point in the fourth quarter, 49-46, but then they scored and put it out of reach. We were always playing catch up. We need to come out firing in the first quarter and never look back."
Champions Bowl II kicks off at 7 o'clock on Saturday night in Wichita, Kansas.
