Norfolk police identity the man recovered from the Elkhorn River Friday morning

NORFOLK, NE (KTIV/US92) -

Norfolk police have released the identity of the man recovered from the Elkhorn River Friday morning.

Authorities were informed of the body in the river just after 9 am near Norfolk's Johnson Park.. The man was identified as 52 year old Jeffery Planer of Norfolk. Police say as of now there is no danger to public safety.

Michael Bauer-Norfolk Police Captain said, "We have identified the area where Mr Planner entered the water, and have gathered some evidence from there. Right now there does not seem to be any public safety issues for anyone."

The Madison County Corner has scheduled an autopsy for Saturday. Officials from the Madison County Sheriff's Office and Norfolk Fire Division assisted at the scene.
