Tour de Nebraska takes a two-wheel tour through Siouxland
PIERCE, NE (KTIV/US92) -
The City of Pierce Nebraska welcomed hundreds of bicyclists Saturday, as a stop on the annual Tour de Nebraska.
The 27th Annual Tour is making its way through northeast Nebraska this weekend, and today's route took bikers from Verdigre to Pierce.
Organizers say over 50 volunteers helped welcome the cyclists with a lunch in the afternoon, a banquet and concert in the evening and two different campsites.
Event officials say Pierce's residents helped make the day run smoothly.
"It's a great bunch of volunteers that we've had. I think they've enjoyed it too, meeting people from different states, other parts of Nebraska and even different countries,” Chuck Micek, Tour de Nebraska, said.
After a breakfast in town, the cyclists departed Sunday morning to wrap up the Tour de Nebraska in Pender.
