Norfolk man sentenced for shooting at a party


A Norfolk Man is sentenced to over five years in prison after after being found guilty of felony assault and weapons charges.

25-year-old Arturo Raya was sentenced in Madison County District Court Monday afternoon.

He pleaded no contest to shooting Devan Key of Norfolk at a party last February.

Raya will be eligible for parole after three-and-a-half years and mandatory release in five-and-a-half years.

Raya said in court that he blamed the incident on having abused a combination of alcohol, marijuana and cocaine that night.

He told the judge he hoped to use the incident as a chance to turn his life around.
