New library for northeast Nebraska community

Northeast Nebraska's newest library opened with a pair of special guests.

Over 100 people attended the dedication ceremony for the Lied Lincoln Township Library in Wausa on Monday.

The dedication ceremony included speeches from Governor Dave Heineman and First Lady Sally Ganem, and also featured a reading of the Library Lion acted out by former Wausa students.

The First Lady says education is so important and libraries play an important part.

The new Lied Lincoln Township Library is built right next to the old library, which served the community since 1935.

The new facility has three times the space and soon will be open Tuesday through Saturday rather than just three days a week.

The 750 thousand dollar facility was funded through several generous donations, including a 250 thousand dollar grant from the Lied Foundation.
