Camera bids for Woodbury County Jail come in over budget

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Bids from security companies for Woodbury County's jail cameras came in a bit over budget.

At Tuesday's Woodbury County Supervisor meeting, the board heard the bids from six different security companies for cameras to be installed in the jail's most dangerous areas.

The lowest bid came in at over $185,000, and the highest at $325,000.

Supervisors still want to find a security camera solution for the jail, but say some changes will need to be made.

"With all the bids, I was hoping that they would come in under the amount of money that we have to put the cameras in the building, so I was somewhat surprised with that," George Boykin, Chairman of the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors said.

Supervisors will hear back from the jail committee and the architect in two weeks.
