A Siouxland community center is getting some much needed improvements thanks to a federal program
NEWMAN GROVE, NE (KTIV/US92) -
Officials with USDA Rural Development announced Tuesday that they have awarded $7,400 to the Newman Grove Community Center.
The money comes from the USDA's Community Facility Grant Program. That money will be combined with funds provided by the center itself to perform over $20,000 worth of renovations.
Officials with the Community Club said they'll be using the money to remove asbestos and upgrade the insulation and air conditioning. The upgrades are part of an ongoing renovation to the decades-old center which houses Newman Grove's food bank among other uses.
Center officials said they hope the upgrades will help make the facility more useful for Newman Grove and the surrounding area.
