Sioux City Art Center preparing for Pollock exhibit

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -  The Jackson Pollock Exhibit will be arriving at the Sioux City Art Center Thursday.

The Sioux City Art Center had to undergo some modifications before hosting the Jackson Pollack Exhibit.

A temporary wall was removed in the exhibit room to add more space, extra lights were added, and the door was enlarged to about 10 feet so the exhibit would fit.

"Having the Pollock here, especially during our hundredth anniversary is outstanding. It is an opportunity to bring one of the most important artworks done by an American artist to Sioux City and have a prolonged exhibition," said Al Harris-Fernandez, Director.

The Jackson Pollock Exhibit was made possible by donations and money raised by the Art Center Association of Siouxland.

"For the community, it's a real feather in our cap as a smaller community to have such a significant painting come here," said Al Harris-Fernandez, Director .

The Jackson Pollock Exhibit will be open to the public starting July 12.

It will be at the Sioux City Art Museum until April 1, 2015.
