Sioux City prepares for the Big Parade

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -  The 20th annual Big Parade and Mardi Gras Festival will take over 4th street Thursday, July 3.

It will take place in downtown Sioux City and it is free to the public.

The parade will kick off just after six starting at 4th and Water Streets and ends at 4th and Iowa Streets.

It's estimated that over 36,000 beads will be tossed out along the way.

"I would say there is a lot of excitement when we get close to the big parade because I think there is a lot of competition among people who go to the parade to get the most beads," said Melissa Lanzourakis, Marketing Manager.

A Mardi Gras Costume Gala will begin following the parade at 8 p.m. at the Convention Center.

There will be live entertainment along with plenty of cajun food.

The night will end with a firework show starting at 10.
