Late Thursday, Iowa guard Devyn Marble was taken with the 56th overall pick in the NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets.

He was then traded to the Orlando Magic - a team Marble says he never even worked out for.

Marble ranks fifth in Iowa history in scoring, sixth in steals, and seventh in assists.

He says the experience of having his name called was one he'll never forget.

"It was surreal," said Marble. "At first I was just blessed to have been taken off the board and I think the Orlando Magic is a great organization for me. They have some young guys with talent and I think it's a good spot for me, to be honest."

Marble becomes the first Iowa player drafted since Adam Haluska in 2007.

For head coach Fran McCaffery, this is the first Hawkeye that's been drafted during his tenure as coach.

He says it was an emotional moment, and believes Marble will be in the league to stay.

"He's going to be in that league for a long time," said McCaffery. "He's too good, too smart, he's tough, he's resilient, and I'm going to have a lot of fun watching him."

Marble was in Orlando Friday for an introductory press conference.
