PILGER, NE (KTIV) -

A man is lending a helping hand to Pilger, after going through a similar tornado devastation in his own community.

A Mother's Day tornado destroyed 16 homes in the Village of Beaver Crossing and damaged 22 others.

Beaver Crossing's City Clerk says after hearing about the devastation in Pilger he couldn't sleep, and immediately thought of ways to help the community.

"Then on that Tuesday morning, I got a call from the attorney for Pilger just asking me some heads up things and what I could offer. I started rattling them off and thought you know what, when we got up to item 10, why don't I ask my board and see if I can just come up there," Shannon Chesnut, Beaver Crossing City Clerk said.

Chesnut got unanimous approval from his board, and got to Pilger to help insurance money flow to the area as quickly as possible.
