Mosquito breeding conditions increasing across Midwest

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Water-related pests are becoming common on land across the Midwest.

Standing water from the recent storms has created perfect conditions for mosquitos, but health officials say disease-carrying ones aren't out in full force yet.

An entomology professor at Iowa State says more mosquitos have been recorded in Iowa compared to this time last year, but it's too early in the season to know what it means.

For now, officials in Iowa and Nebraska recommend people wear insect repellent.
