Southwest Airlines flight diverted to Sioux City

A Southwest Airlines flight headed from Minneapolis to Denver landed in Sioux City Sunday afternoon.

Sioux Gateway Airport Director Curt Miller says the 737 was diverted for an electrical problem at 2:40.

Southwest spokeswoman Michelle Agnew says the pilot on flight 3809 made the landing out of an abundance of caution after a power indicator light went on.

No one was hurt and the airline sent a plane from Chicago's Midway Airport to pick up the passengers and return them to Denver.

Agnew says they arrived about five hours late.

The plane is still in Sioux City waiting for mechanics to fix the problem.

Miller says diversions like this happen at Sioux Gateway a few times a year, usually due to weather.
