High winds hit Pierce County as storms rolled through
Pierce County residents describe the storm that passed over early Monday morning.
PIERCE, NE (KTIV/US92) -
Limited damage is being reported after a number of storms rolled through northeast Nebraska Monday morning.
Pierce County resident, Brian Koenig, woke up to the sound of shaking windows as a funnel cloud passed outside his residence.
Koenig and his wife were asleep when they heard strong winds outside and immediately went down into the basement. After a couple minutes, the storm was over and the Koenigs went outside to asses the damage from the storm.
“It’s just a shock cause 50 feet, 50 yards maybe, and the house would’ve been gone," says Koenig.
No one was injured, but Koenig found an irrigation pipe turned over and three buildings leveled. A couple fields were damaged as well from tin sheets that were stripped off the sheds.
