A special meeting was held Monday night for the Norfolk, Nebraska city council.
They discussed two things.
First, the mayor's appointment to fill an opening for the Ward 1 council seat.
Also, to approve local funding for a natural gas line expansion for the Tejas Tubular project.
The council unanimously approved the appointment of Corey Granquist to fill the remainder of the term left when Dale Coy's resigned.
Corey Ganquist, Norfolk City Council Appointee said, "It's not personally what I want to see, but I want to have that voice for the community and hopefully push those actions."
The council also unanimously approved the Northeast Nebraska Line Funding Assistance Agreement for a 48-mile gas line to Norfolk.
Shane Weidner, Norfolk, NE Administrator said, "This really gets us to a point that we're going to jump off and Black Hills can start to jump off and take off with their building, construction of this gas line that will expand our capacity to the area by 50%."
The city will use $3.6 million in economic development money for the gas line project.
The total price tag $5 million.
The rest of the money will come through an economic development grant through the state of Nebraska.
