CLAY COUNTY, IA - A northwest Iowa man convicted in the 1997 murder of Gregory "Sky" Erickson will not be paroled this year.

In May, a judge re-sentenced Ryan Wedebrand for his role in the kidnapping and killing of 15-year-old Erickson.  Wedebrand was originally sentenced to life in prison.

In 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that people sentenced to life without parole in prison as a minor, could request a resentencing.

A Clay County judge then changed Wedebrand's sentence to include the possibility of parole.

Last week, Wedebrand went before the parole board for the first time.  He was denied parole, and will not be up for consideration again until next year.
