X's snap Winnipeg's 11-game winning streak

 Patrick Johnson had a season-high 11 strikeouts to lead the Sioux City Explorers to a 2-1 win over Winnipeg on Tuesday night. The win snapped an 11-game winning streak for the Goldeyes (34-15). Johnson gave up just four hits and one walk before leaving after seven innings of work, but he did not factor in the decision.

Sioux City left fielder Oscar Mesa drove in the first run of the game with a two-out single in the third inning that scored Tommy Mendonca to give the X's a 1-0 lead.

Sioux City (21-30) relief pitcher Geoff Broussard gave up a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth which tied the game. Winnipeg's Ryan Pineda led off the inning with a single and then scored on a long fly by Josh Mazzola to make it 1-1.

Amos Ramon drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth with a single which brought home Rene Tosoni for a 2-1 Sioux City lead. Chris Bodishbaugh pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth to earn his eighth save.

The middle game of the three-game series is Wednesday. The Explorers return home to play Fargo-Moorhead on Friday.
