Authorities make arrests during weekend safety check
NORFOLK, NE (KTIV/US92) -
This past holiday weekend ended for some Siouxlanders with a trip to jail.
On Tuesday, the Nebraska State Patrol released the results of a weekend safety check it did in Burt County. Troopers with the Patrol Troop B office in Norfolk, Nebraska performed vehicle checks along the Nebraska-Iowa border in Decatur.
Patrol officials said they checked 50 vehicles and arrested 14 people. Of those arrests, two were for driving while intoxicated. The others were for various infractions, including open container, no driver's license, and child restraint violations.
The patrol said the safety enforcement was paid for in part by a grant from the Healthy Communities Initiative Coalition that serves Burt, Madison, Stanton and Cuming counties.
