Honorary royalty crowned for River-Cade celebration

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

For years, young women have dreamed about being crowned "Queen of the River" during Sioux City's annual River-Cade celebration.

This year, those young women aren't the only royalty around.

Wednesday, at the Siouxland Center for Active Generations, two lucky people were crowned "honorary" royalty for River-Cade. Sally Kimball will reign as "queen", and Jon Whegoner will reign as "king" during the annual celebration, which kicks-off Saturday, July 12th. "So unexpected, truly I'm not trying to be modest. It's just, it's great. The Center is the greatest place for us, it really is," Sally Kimball said.
