LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - UPDATE: The Iowa man wanted as a person of interest in the deaths of two people waives his right to extradition and will voluntarily return to that state.
44-year-old Jonathan Neunaber appeared by himself in a La Crosse County courtroom Friday afternoon. During the appearance, Neunaber said he'd go back to Iowa.
Earlier this week, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office issued a felony warrant for Neunaber after the bodies of 83-year-old Donald John Neunaber and 80-year-old Esther Grace Neunaber were found in a home in rural Akron, Iowa. Authorities are waiting on autopsy results to determine the cause of death of the pair. Investigators believe Neunaber may have information on what lead to the deaths. Neunaber has not been charged with any crime at this point.
Thursday evening, La Crosse Police stopped Neunaber for a driving complaint as he traveled on Rose St. Officers took him into custody when they discovered the outstanding warrant on Neunaber.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - An Iowa man is expected to appear in a La Crosse County court Friday after his arrest on a felony warrant related to a the deaths of two people found in an home earlier this week.
Officers arrested 44-year-old Jonathan Neunaber Thursday evening on the northside of La Crosse. A department spokesperson tells WXOW that they initially stopped Neunaber after a complaint that he was driving erratically. Officers pulled him over off of North Rose Street about 8:25 p.m. The felony warrant from Iowa came to light when they ran a background check on Neunaber. Authorities in Plymouth County, Iowa believe has information critical to their investigation.
Late Friday morning, Plymouth County Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo identified the two bodies as 83-year-old Donald John Neunaber and 80-year-old Esther Grace Neunaber.
According to KTIV-TV in Sioux City, IA, the Plymouth Co. Sheriff's Dept. discovered two bodies at Neunaber's home earlier this week. Plymouth Co. Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo says Neunaber is a person of interest. He and has not been charged with anything, and an arrest warrant has not been issued at this time.
The sheriff's dept. says that the time of death of the victims is unclear. It's possible the bodies could have been at Neunaber's house for up to a few weeks. Investigators are headed to La Crosse to continue their investigation into the case.
